Melissa Oneil

MelissaMelissa Crystal O'Neil, born July 12 1988[1,] is a Canadian actress/singer. O'Neil was the first Canadian female winner of Canadian Idol's third season, was awarded the title in 2005. In her role as an actress, she is well-known for her roles as Two and Rebecca or Portia Lin on the Syfy science fiction show Dark Matter and as Officer Lucy Chen on the ABC police procedural drama series The Rookie.Although she was praised highly by the judges, O'Neil experienced major setbacks in both the Top 10 and Top 9 weeks of the finals, since she was placed in the third and fourth places as well as the bottom two. The judges were stunned by this and encouraged viewers to vote Melissa for her singing talents. O'Neil's performances were always praised and O'Neil did not slip back into the bottom 3. Zack Werner, the judge, called O'Neil "a contender to win the whole thing". O'Neil and Rex went on to make it to the top two spots of the show on September 7 the 7th of September, 2005. After yet more impressive performance, Werner declared that "The King [Kalan Porter] is dead and long live the Queen". During the grand finale results show on September 14 on the 14th of September, 2005, O'Neil defeated Goudie to become the third Canadian Idol, as well as being the first female winner as well as (at 17) the youngest winner of the show's history.
